One Barcelona will be suspended if shown a yellow card vs Atlético

A leading member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona will be forced to walk the disciplinary tightrope in the club’s next outing.

The player in question? Iñigo Martínez.

Barcelona are of course primed to return to action on Tuesday evening.

Turning attentions back towards matters on the continent, the Blaugrana will welcome Benfica to Catalunya’s capital, for a Champions League return leg clash.

The aforementioned Iñigo, for his part, is expected to feature from the off in the fixture, joining Ronald Araújo at the heart of boss Hansi Flick’s defence.

As alluded to above, though, in his efforts to help guide Barca towards the Champions League’s final eight, the veteran stopper will be forced to watch his step.

Iñigo, as things stand, is just a solitary booking away from a European suspension.

This means that, in the case of the 33-year-old picking up another yellow card on Tuesday, he will be ruled out of contention for a hypothetical Champions League quarter-final first-leg.
