One Barcelona starlet is leading all of La Liga in progressive passes and tackles

A head-turning set of statistics, highlighting the excellence of one Barcelona youngster over the early weeks of the campaign, has come to the fore on Friday.

The player in question? Marc Casadó.

Midfielder Casadó, for his part, has of course proven one of the revelations of the new season in Catalunya’s capital.

Amid the absence of a number of Barcelona’s most influential players in the middle of the park, the 21-year-old has been afforded an extended chance to impress by boss Hansi Flick.

And, safe to say, this is an opportunity which Casadó has since grasped with both hands.

The La Masia graduate has shone from his berth at the base of midfield, introducing a rarely-seen blend of tenacity off the ball, and productiveness on it.

As much is backed by the numbers, too, with statisticians DataMB on Friday having aptly highlighted Casadó’s influence on both sides of the ball.

The Spaniard, according to the data, leads all of La Liga’s midfielders in all of tackles, progressive passes and passes into the penalty area, per 90 minutes thus far in 2024/25.

Not only that, but he ranks 2nd in possession-adjusted tackles, and 4th in accurate long passes, too:
