A member of the loan army at La Liga giants Real Madrid has on Friday exploded into life at his new club. The Blancos star in question? Franco Mastantuono.
Mastantuono was of course granted a departure from Spain’s capital this past summer. After a somewhat hit-and-miss debut campaign in the colours of Real Madrid, it was decided that the 19-year-old’s development would be best aided by a temporary exit.
Serie A outfit Fiorentina, amid something of a squad overhaul, in turn swooped to bring Mastantuono in for the duration of the 2026/27 season.
The Argentine international had since endured something of a difficult time of things in Italy, as Fiorentina were condemned to three consecutive defeats to open the term.
As alluded to above, though, on Friday, Mastantuono finally provided those of a Viola persuasion with a glimpse at his unquestionable talents.
After the Tuscans fell into an early deficit at Venezia, the versatile attacker took the game by the scruff of the neck. After first cutting inside to rifle home a fine left-footed effort from the edge of the penalty area, less than 120 seconds later, Mastantuono was back at it again, on this occasion picking out the far corner.
*Update* – Mastantuono has since rounded out his hat-trick, in a 4-2 victory for Fiorentina.
