On-loan Barcelona talent confirms ‘dream’ of returning

A member of the loan army at La Liga giants Barcelona has today confirmed his hopes of returning to base in Catalunya, to battle it out for a spot in the club’s first-team squad.

The player in question? Julián Araujo.

Defender Araujo, for his part, linked up with Barcelona in the summer of 2023, before being immediately farmed out to Las Palmas for the duration of the campaign.

As much came with a view to the Mexican international building his experience of Spanish football, after spending the early years of his fledgling career in MLS, with the LA Galaxy.

And, to date, Araujo’s stint in Gran Canaria has proven an altogether productive one.

The 22-year-old has established himself as an important member of the Las Palmas backline, on his way to 22 La Liga appearances under the watch of García Pimienta.

Speaking to the media whilst on international duty with Mexico this weekend, it therefore came as little surprise when both the subject of his stint in Spain, and plans beyond the summer, were put to Araujo himself.

And, in his response, the right-back made crystal clear his intention of carving out a place for himself back in Barcelona:

“I feel very good at Las Palmas, but of course, my dream is to return to Barcelona. I hope to have a chance there.”
