On-loan Barcelona star Ronald Araújo kept alive his productive continental campaign to date on Tuesday night. This came courtesy of his exploits in Liverpool’s meeting with Villarreal.
Andoni Iraola’s Reds are currently locked in action in the Champions League, having welcomed La Liga outfit Villarreal to Anfield.
The aforementioned Araújo was afforded a starting berth for the evening, taking his place on the right of the hosts’ backline.
And on the stroke of the interval, the Uruguayan chipped in with his latest important goal. Breaking free at the back post, Araújo got on the end of Rio Ngumoha’s clever delivery, to nod home and make it two goals apiece.
And in the process, the 27-year-old kept alive what has been a surprisingly productive individual campaign in Europe.
All told, across three Champions League appearances in the colours of Liverpool, Araújo has now chipped in with three direct goal contributions (2G,1A).
