On Sunday night, Villarreal announced the signing of Giovano Lo Celso on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Spanish club have agreed to a new loan deal for the Argentine midfielder, one that does not include an option to buy. If a club wants to buy Lo Celso in January, Villarreal will lose the Argentina international and Spurs will sell if the right offer comes along.
Lo Celso wanted to stay at Villarreal and Unai Emery made him a priority this summer. He will make his return to the club and train with the squad on Monday ahead of being officially presented on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old played the second half of last season on loan at La Cerámica, making a total of 22 appearances in which he scored one goal. He played a key role in helping Villarreal reach the Champions League semi-finals in 2021-22, leading to Emery making him his top transfer target this summer.
