La Liga outfit Villarreal have early this week announced a fresh addition to the club’s ranks between the posts. This comes amid confirmation of a deal being struck with RB Leipzig for the signature of Péter Gulácsi.
Securing reinforcements in goal had emerged as something of a priority for those in the boardroom at La Cerámica over recent weeks.
After Diego Conde departed on loan for Villarreal’s La Liga rivals Real Betis, Arnau Tenas quickly followed suit in taking his talents to RCD Mallorca.
The Yellow Submarine, in turn, drew up a lengthy shortlist of transfer targets from all corners of world football. The name of the aforementioned Péter Gulácsi, though, was soon circled in red.
And as alluded to above, after several weeks of negotiations with Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig, Villarreal have on Monday officially landed their man.
As per a statement across the club’s social media platforms:
‘Villarreal CF and RB Leipzig have reached a transfer agreement for Gulácsi, who will be the groguet goalkeeper for the next two seasons.’
