A leading member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has this week committed his immediate future to the club.
This comes amid confirmation that Antonio Rüdiger has put pen to paper on a contract extension in Spain’s capital.
Defender Rüdiger’s future beyond the summer was of course considered as being in serious doubt for much of the 2025/26 campaign. As much came with the German having been struggling for form, ahead of the imminent expiration of his Real Madrid contract.
After enjoying an uptick in form and fitness alike over the season’s latter months, however, Florentino Pérez and co. made the call to kick talks over a new deal back into gear with Rüdiger’s entourage.
These discussions quickly culminated in the two parties making clear their desire to continue their partnership for the next 12 months.
And as alluded to above, on Tuesday, official confirmation of Rüdiger’s continuation at the Bernabéu has arrived.
As per a statement across Real Madrid’s social media platforms:
‘Real Madrid C. F. and Antonio Rüdiger have agreed to extend the contract of our player, binding him to the club until June 30, 2027.’
