Official: Real Madrid show class with contract renewal announcement

La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Sunday announced the renewal of Dani Carvajal’s contract with the club.

The name of defender Carvajal has of course dominated the headlines in Spain’s capital across the day to date.

Unfortunately for the 32-year-old, this comes for altogether less than positive reasons, after the extent of the serious knee injury he picked up last night against Villarreal was confirmed.

As per a statement across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms, Carvajal has suffered all of ‘a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, a ruptured external collateral ligament and a ruptured popliteus tendon in his right leg’.

On what likely marks the most difficult day of Carvajal’s legendary career to date, the brass at the Santiago Bernabéu, in turn, have this afternoon done their best to soften the blow of his injury as best they can.

As per a 2nd release on the part of Los Blancos a short time ago, the club’s long-time full-back has been rewarded for his efforts with a new two-year contract:

‘Real Madrid C. F. announces that, as planned, the club has agreed with Dani Carvajal to extend the player’s contract, which will keep him at the club until 30 June 2026.’
