Official: Real Madrid crowned La Liga champions

Real Madrid have on Saturday evening been crowned as La Liga champions for the 2023/24 campaign.

Los Blancos are fresh off putting Cádiz to the sword earlier in the day, meaning arch rivals Barcelona required a victory against Girona, or be forced to surrender their Spanish top-flight crown by day’s end.

Xavi’s men, however, failed to produce as much, ultimately put to the sword by four goals to two at the Estadi Montilivi.

Now 13 points clear of the chasing pack with just four games to play, Real Madrid, as a result, can no longer be mathematically caught in their place atop the table.

Carlo Ancelotti’s star-studded outfit have therefore wrestled back the title of Spanish football’s very best.

And few could argue that as much is not deserved, the capital giants having racked up 27 wins and just a solitary defeat across their 34 La Liga outings to date.

With a Champions League semi-final 2nd-leg meeting with Bayern Munich to come on Wednesday, a domestic and European double, in turn, remains very much on the agenda at the Santiago Bernabéu before the season is out.

Congratulations, Real Madrid!
