La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid have on Friday announced the club’s latest player sale. The Blancos star to have brought a close to his time in Spain’s capital? Víctor Valdepeñas.
The name of youngster Valdepeñas will of course be familiar to regular viewers of Real Madrid. This comes after the 19-year-old was afforded his senior debut by the club this past season.
En route to a La Liga victory over Deportivo Alavés back in December, the versatile full-back/centre-back featured from the off, not looking at all out of place amongst a star-studded XI.
Aware that his route to regular minutes in Spain’s capital was blocked yet further by the arrival of Marc Cucurella this summer, however, Valdepeñas has been hotly tipped for a new adventure away from the Bernabéu for several weeks now.
And as alluded to above, on Friday, precisely as much has been confirmed. As per a statement across Real Madrid’s official website and social media platforms:
‘Real Madrid CF and ACF Fiorentina have agreed to the transfer of our player Víctor Valdepeñas.
‘Real Madrid thanks Valdepeñas for his commitment over all these years and wishes him and his family all the best in this new stage of their lives.’
Fiorentina are understood to have forked over a fee in the region of €8 million for Valdepeñas, with Real Madrid maintaining a 50% sell-on clause.
