La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Monday provided an update on the wellbeing of two members of the club’s first-team squad.
This comes after both were forced into premature departures from the club’s latest outing.
Real are of course fresh off securing a return to winning ways this past weekend.
After welcoming Osasuna to Spain’s capital for a La Liga clash, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops put a pair of back-to-back defeats firmly behind them, en route to an eventual 4-0 triumph.
And yet, post-match, it was not the subject of Los Blancos’ excellence on the day which took its place front and centre in the headlines.
Instead, as much was dominated by injury news.
This comes after no fewer than three members of Ancelotti’s ranks were hauled off prematurely owing to fitness blows.
The most serious was suffered by defender Éder Militão, who has since been diagnosed with a ruptured ACL, his 2nd in the space of a little over a year.
And the other two were picked up by Rodrygo, and Lucas Vázquez.
Amid nothing short of an injury crisis in the club’s squad at present, all of a Real Madrid persuasion will in turn no doubt be interested to hear of further updates, on Monday, coming to the fore.
As per a pair of statements across the website and social media platforms of the Spanish champions:
‘Following tests carried out today by Real Madrid’s Medical Services on our player Lucas Vázquez, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the adductor longus of his left leg. His progress will be monitored.’
‘Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player Rodrygo, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the rectus abdominis muscle in his left leg. His progress will be monitored.’
Both, as a result, are expected to be sidelined for at least a month.
