Real Betis have announced the arrival of Brazilian striker Willian José on loan from Real Sociedad.

The agreement includes a buy option for the player to sign a 3-year deal next summer for approximately €8 million. If the 29-year-old is fit he could be called up to play against Real Madrid this Saturday.

Betis will pay the player’s wages for the remainder of the season, that is to say, practically all of it. Willian José, who scored three goals in pre-season for Real Sociedad, fell out of favour with La Real head coach Imanol Alguacil. He has played 156 official matches for Real Sociedad, scoring 58 goals and providing 14 assists.
