As reported on the club’s official communication channels, Rayo Vallecano have signed Raúl de Tomás (RDT) from Espanyol.
As the relationship between RDT and Espanyol deteriorated, the Catalonia-based side have been looking to offload the Spaniard throughout the summer.
Rayo Vallecano and Espanyol arrived at a fee of €8m plus €3m in variables for the 27-year-old. RDT also signed a five-year-deal that will see him contracted to Los Franjirrojos until June 2027.
However, as the deal was finalised outside of the transfer window, he will not be able to make an appearance at the Estadio Vallecas until January 2023.
Rayo Vallecano will not be unfamiliar territory for RDT, having already played for the club between 2017 and 2019. He scored 38 goals in 66 games in his first stint at the club.
Last season he was joint-second top scorer alongside Iago Aspas and Vinícius Júnior in La Liga with 17 goals.
