Official: Las Palmas name new manager

La Liga outfit Las Palmas have on Wednesday unveiled the latest installation on the club’s bench.

The tactician in line to take up the reins in Gran Canaria for the 2024/25 campaign? Luis Carrión.

Carrión, for his part, is fresh off an impressive campaign in Spanish football’s 2nd tier, with Real Oviedo.

After being appointed in the summer of 2023, the Spaniard went on to guide Oviedo to within a solitary game of promotion to La Liga.

This past weekend, however, a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Espanyol in the 2nd leg of the promotion playoff finale between the clubs saw the Azules’ status in La Liga 2 for next season confirmed.

Boss Carrión, in turn, has come to the decision to move on.

As alluded to above, the former Barcelona defender has linked up with Las Palmas, chosen as the replacement for the departing García Pimienta.

As per an official statement across the website and social media platforms of the Amarillos:

‘Luis Miguel Carrión Delgado (02/07/1979, Barcelona) and UD Las Palmas join their paths for the beginning of a new season in LALIGA EA SPORTS. The Catalan coach is linked to the yellow entity until June 30, 2026.’
