Official | Joaquín signs new deal with Real Betis

Real Betis have announced a new deal for club captain Joaquín.

Joaquín began his 23rd preseason as a professional footballer this week. The 40-year-old winger will continue for at least one more season, announcing his decision to stay after the club’s recent Copa del Rey success.

Winning the Copa del Rey in April made Joaquín the most successful player in the history of Betis. This time he lifted the trophy as captain, after scoring one of the penalties in the shoot-out in the final against Valencia.

On 21 July he turns 41, but this past season he has once again shown that he is still an important squad member.

Betis are on their way to Austria for their pre-season training camp ahead of the new La Liga season.

They will be in Austria until 16 July. After that, they will travel to the Netherlands to play against PSV Eindhoven followed by a trip to the United Kingdom, where they will play Marseille and Brentford.

Marbella will be Betis’ last training camp before the start of the 2022-23 campaign.
