Athletic Club have announced that Gorka Guruzeta has renewed his contract until 2028. The club have tied down another one of their important players, who they consider untouchable in their sporting project.
Guruzeta has been fine form this season, establishing himself as a key player in Ernesto Valverde’s schemes. He is the club’s top scorer and this alone has merited his contract extension.
The player from Guipuzcoa has put pen to paper on a new deal that commits him to the club until 2028. His contract was due to expire in June, although he had an automatic renewal clause based on the amount of games he has played and he was close to fulfilling this criteria.
However, the club believe the player deserved to be rewarded with a bigger extension and a salary increase. Both parties have been locked in negotiations for months, but the agreement has now finally been reached. The 27-year-old declared that he wanted to stay at the club, both publicly and internally.
The striker becomes the latest player to renew at the red and white club. Furthermore, the club has continued its policy to renew the deals of the most important players, with the Williams brothers and Oilhan being rewarded with new deals in recent seasons.
