Official: Former Barcelona star reunites with Cesc Fabregas at Como

An iconic figure in the Spanish football scene has on Thursday put pen to paper on terms with Serie A outfit Como.

The player in question? Pepe Reina.

Goalkeeper Reina, for his part, recently became a free agent for the latest time.

As much came after his terms with La Liga outfit Villarreal were allowed to come to a close, following two years on the books at La Cerámica.

The understandable assumption on the part of many, in turn, was that the former Liverpool, AC Milan and Barcelona man was in line to call time on his legendary career.

Reina, after all, is now 41 years of age.

As alluded to above, however, this in fact will not prove to be the case.

Instead, the veteran shot-stopper has agreed to take his talents back to Italy, with newly-promoted Como.

As per an official statement across the Serie A outfit’s website and social media platforms, Reina has agreed to a short-term contract with the club, through the summer of 2025.

The move will see the Barcelona youth product reunited with former Spanish international teammate Cesc Fabregas, who is set to lead Como’s return to the top-flight of Italian football from the bench next season.
