Official: Cádiz the third and final club relegated from La Liga

Cádiz have this evening become the final club to suffer relegation from the top-flight of Spanish football in 2023/24.

In their penultimate outing of the La Liga campaign, El Submarino Amarillo played host to Las Palmas a short time ago.

Mauricio Pellegrino’s troops headed into proceedings in the knowledge that nothing but a victory would suffice, amid their last-gasp push for survival.

When all was said and done on Sunday, however, Cádiz could only muster up a point, owing to a goalless stalemate.

This means that they can no longer mathematically catch 17th-placed Mallorca, who battled their way to a draw with La Liga basement dwellers Almería.

Cádiz’s four-year stay back in Spain’s top tier has, as a result, officially come to an end.

They will join Granada and Almería back in Segunda División for the 2024/25 campaign.

Commiserations to the Andalusian outfit, their players, fans, staff, and all others associated with the club. We hope to see you back in La Liga again soon!
