Official: Cádiz appoint Mauricio Pellegrino as new head coach

La Liga outfit Cádiz have this afternoon confirmed the identity of the club’s new head coach.

The situation on the bench at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain across the week to date.

This comes after The Yellow Submarine at long last parted ways with Sergio González, on the back of a harrowing winless streak spanning four months.

Focus, in turn, had since shifted towards sourcing a replacement, to oversee the club’s fight against relegation to the 2nd tier over the 2nd half of the campaign.

And, as alluded to above, on Wednesday, Cádiz have confirmed the identity of the tactician charged with precisely that.

As per an official statement across the club’s social media platforms, an agreement has been reached with Mauricio Pellegrino.

Former Southampton and Alavés boss Pellegrino, after an absence spanning five years, is in turn officially back in Spanish football.

Though as much has not yet been confirmed, the Argentinian tactician is understood to have put pen to paper on terms with Cádiz through the upcoming summer.
