Official | Bournemouth complete the signing of Neto

Bournemouth have announced the signing of goalkeeper Neto from Barcelona.

The experienced Brazilian, 33, has joined the Cherries on a free transfer after agreeing terms on a 12-month deal.

Neto arrived from Valencia to Barcelona in 2019 to provide competition for Marc-André ter Stegen, however, he failed to displace the German keeper from the starting XI and only made 21 appearances over the course of three seasons in all competitions.

The offloading of the shot-stopper allows the Blaugrana to further reduce their wage bill. Neto becomes player to leave Camp Nou after Coutinho, Trincao, Rey Manaj, Moussa Wagué, Dani Alves, Adama Traoré, Luuk de Jong, Lenglet, Óscar Mingueza and Riqui Puig.

Mateu Alemany continues his crusade to reduce the wage bill by trying to get rid of all of Xavi Hernández’s out of favour players.

Of the five players who were not called up to travel with the team on the US tour, only Samuel Umtiti and Martin Braithwaite remain, the two most complicated cases to resolve.
