An up-and-coming member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has been condemned to a lengthy incoming spell on the sidelines.
The player in question? Dani Rodríguez.
Youngster Rodríguez, for his part, is in the midst of a whirlwind month in Catalunya’s capital.
After first being afforded a place in Barcelona’s senior squad to face Real Valladolid in La Liga on May 3rd, the 19-year-old was then afforded his debut from the off at the Estadio José Zorrilla.
What began as something of a dream evening for Rodríguez, however, soon took a turn for the worse.
Late in the first-half, the talented winger went to ground clutching his shoulder, before swiftly being hauled off whilst making use of a temporary sling.
Ensuing scans confirmed that Rodríguez had suffered an acute dislocation of his right shoulder.
And as alluded to above, on Friday, an insight into the extent of the absence awaiting the Spaniard as a result has been forthcoming.
As per a statement across the social media platforms of Barca Atlètic:
‘Barça Atlétic player Dani Rodríguez underwent successful surgery on Thursday for a dislocated right shoulder. The estimated recovery time will be between three and four months.’
