La Liga giants Barcelona have on Friday announced a fresh addition to the club’s attacking ranks.
This comes by way of the addition of youngster Juan Piera.
For those not familiar with his name, Piera is a 19-year-old frontman, who generally operates as a centre-forward, but is also capable of lining out in a deeper no.10 role.
The Barcelona native spent last season plying his trade with Atlético Baleares, in group 2 of the Primera Federación.
After the parties failed to come to an agreement on the terms of a contract renewal, however, Piera was allowed to depart as a free agent.
This was followed by a trial period with Barca Atlètic this summer, during which the starlet was tasked with proving his talents to boss Albert Sánchez and his coaching staff.
And, evidently, Piera managed precisely that…
This comes amid confirmation that the talented striker has officially penned terms with Barcelona, on a short-term contract through the summer of 2025.
As per a statement across the Barca Atlètic social media platforms:
‘FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with player Juan Piera for his signing at Barça Atlètic. The Barcelona striker has been on trial during the pre-season with the Barcelona reserve team and has signed for one season, until June 30, 2025.’
