Barcelona have announced the signing of defender Andreas Christensen on a free transfer.
The Denmark international will sign a contract until 30 June 2026 and his buy-out clause will be set at €500 million.
In a statement, the club said: “At 1.88m, Christensen is a powerful centre-back who is excellent in the air. Technically proficient with the ball at his feet also, he is a perfect fit for the Blaugrana back four.”
Christensen is the second signing announced by Barça ahead of the new season, after the La Liga club confirmed the arrival of midfielder Franck Kessié earlier today. Kessié also arrives as a free agent from Serie A champions AC Milan.
He became a key player at Stamford Bridge, playing 160 times for the club and scoring two goals. The Dane leaves Chelsea after a decade.
On Thursday 7 July Christensen’s presentation as a new Barça player will take place.
