La Liga giants Barcelona have on Saturday night unveiled a statement, confirming the terrible news circulating in the media.
The Blaugrana were of course due to return to action in short order, in a La Liga meeting with Osasuna in Catalunya’s capital.
At the last minute, however, the fixture was postponed.
Reports quickly began to spread in the press that as much came owing to the sudden death of a member of the club’s backroom staff.
And, unfortunately, precisely that has since been confirmed.
In an official statement across Barcelona’s website and social media platforms on Saturday night, the tragic passing of doctor Carles Miñarro Garcia was announced:
‘FC Barcelona is deeply saddened to announce the passing of first-team doctor Carles Miñarro Garcia this evening. For this reason, the match between FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna has been postponed to a later date. The FC Barcelona Board of Directors and all staff extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.’
