Official: Barcelona boss Hansi Flick learns punishment for La Liga red card

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has been sanctioned with a two-game La Liga ban, for his dismissal over the weekend.

Tactician Flick was for his part given his marching orders for the first time since making the move to Spain this past Saturday evening.

En route to Barcelona’s 2-2 La Liga draw with Real Betis, the German was dismissed midway through the 2nd-half, after protesting against the decision to award a penalty against his side.

As per the referee’s report, Flick was shown a red card ‘for leaving the technical area shouting and gesticulating, protesting one of my decisions’.

Ahead of a key upcoming stretch of fixtures, those behind the scenes at the Camp Nou had since been awaiting confirmation of the extent of their headmaster’s punishment with bated breath.

And, as alluded to above, on Wednesday, precisely as much has been announced.

As per a release on the part of the Spanish football authorities, Flick has been hit with a two-match touchline ban.

This means that the former Bayern Munich boss will not be available to oversee either of Barcelona’s next two domestic fixtures, against Leganés, and Atlético Madrid.
