Official: Barcelona announce latest summer signing

La Liga champions Barcelona have on Thursday announced a fresh addition to the club’s first-team ranks. This comes amid confirmation that Dominik Livaković has put pen to paper on terms in Catalunya’s capital.

Shot-stopper Livaković has of course seen his name dominate the media headlines surrounding Barcelona for several weeks now.

After word was forthcoming that Deco and co. were eying a long-term replacement for the aging Wojciech Szczęsny in Hansi Flick’s squad, the Croatian was identified as the ideal addition.

Experienced, out of favour and available on the cheap ahead of the expiration of his contract terms next summer, the Barca brass in turn kickstarted transfer negotiations with Fenerbahçe over a deal for Livaković.

And as alluded to above, ahead of the fast-approaching transfer deadline, these talks have today officially borne fruit. As per a statement released on the Blaugrana’s website:

‘Agreement reached between FC Barcelona and Fenerbahçe SK for the transfer of Dominik Livaković. The Croatian keeper signs for four seasons up to 30 June 2030.’
