Official: Barcelona announce fresh injury blow

La Liga giants Barcelona have on Tuesday evening made official the news which had spread across the Spanish media over the course of the day to date.

This comes in the form of a fresh personnel blow in Hansi Flick’s squad.

Just days out from his expected return to the pitch, Fermín López has suffered an untimely setback in his recovery efforts.

As per a statement across Barcelona’s website and social media platforms:

‘During training this morning, Fermín López suffered an injury to the rectus femoris muscle in his right quadriceps. He is expected to be out around three weeks.’

News of Fermín’s blow could not come at a much worse time for Hansi Flick and his coaching staff.

This comes with another of Barca’s attacking midfield options, in Dani Olmo, having also been condemned to a spell on the sidelines this past weekend.

After being forced into a premature departure from the club’s La Liga downing of Catalan neighbours Girona, Spanish international Olmo was subsequently diagnosed with a hamstring injury, which is expected to keep him out of action for around a month.
