La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have this weekend announced a fresh addition to the club’s first-team ranks in the middle of the park.
The latest player to have put pen to paper on terms in Spain’s capital? Morten Hjulmand.
The name of Danish international Hjulmand has of course dominated the headlines at Atlético Madrid over the last week. This comes after word was forthcoming that, amid a search for fresh blood in midfield, the Metropolitano brass had identified the 27-year-old as their no.1 target.
Talks, in turn, were kicked into gear with both the board at Portuguese outfit Sporting CP, and Hjulmand’s team of representatives.
And after an agreement with the latter was quickly tied up, an accord has today been confirmed at club level, too.
As per a statement across Atlético’s website and social media platforms:
‘Atletico Madrid and Sporting CP have reached an agreement for the transfer of Morten Hjulmand, who has signed for our club until June 30, 2031.’
The transfer is understood to have set the Rojiblancos back a sum in the region of €45 million (add-ons included).
