Asier Illarramendi (33) has joined FC Dallas for the remainder of the 2023 season. The midfielder, a free agent after being let go by Real Sociedad at the beginning of June, will take a new direction in his career. The agreement between the parties was made official on Thursday afternoon.
“We have acquired free agent midfielder Asier Illarramendi for the remainder of the 2023 season with an option for 2024,” the club said in an official statement.
In his goodbye letter to La Real, the former Real Madrid player said at the time: “I think I can still contribute. It will be a rare and atypical summer, of uncertainty.”
Among all the offers he has received, the one from the Texan club has been the one that has convinced him most. Dallas will take on Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets when they face Tata Martino’s Inter Miami side in the Leagues Cup Round of 16 on August 6.
