Official: 8 Barcelona stars – including Gavi & Szczęsny – put through doping test before Sevilla

Eight members of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona were on Thursday put through an anti-doping test by UEFA.

As much has been confirmed by a host of sources across Spain this afternoon, with an insight into the players involved having also been provided.

As per a report from Barcelona insider Víctor Navarro, the eight-man group selected for testing consisted of:

Raphinha, Pedri, Marc Casadó, Gavi, Íñigo Martinez, Robert Lewandowski, Wojciech Szczesny, and Dani Olmo.

For those of a Blaugrana persuasion not familiar with such operations, there is no need for concern.

Representatives from UEFA routinely stop by at clubs across the continent, to carry out random doping tests.

The players selected are also understood to be random, as evidenced by the inclusion of Wojciech Szczesny, who only stepped out of retirement to sign for Barcelona two weeks ago.

All eight members of Hansi Flick’s squad passed Thursday’s testing without any problems, set to be available to play their respective parts against Sevilla this weekend as a result.
