‘Not very loved’ – José Mourinho hails under-fire Real Madrid star

Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho has on Sunday revealed his appreciation for the latest efforts of an oft-criticised member of his midfield ranks.

The Blancos star in question? Eduardo Camavinga.

Real Madrid were of course back in action earlier this evening, welcoming Málaga to Spain’s capital for a La Liga clash. Amid rotation in the hosts’ XI for the fixture, the aforementioned Camavinga was afforded his starting berth, his first of the new campaign.

And en route to an eventual 4-0 romp for he and his teammates, the Frenchman produced an impressive individual showing. Neat and tidy in his passing and full of intent and vigour off the ball, Camavinga proved himself worthy of his status as a starter.

So much so that José Mourinho was quick to highlight the name of the 23-year-old during his post-match press conference. Speaking to the media after watching his side make it three wins from three to open the season, Real Madrid’s headmaster explained:

“A boy who is not very loved gave a great performance today: Eduardo Camavinga! I really liked his performance.”
