‘No one better’ – Neymar throws backing behind Real Madrid star for Ballon d’Or

Former Barcelona star Neymar has on Monday thrown his backing behind fellow countryman and Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. to lift the next Ballon d’Or.

The subject of the upcoming Ballon d’Or ceremony has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines across Europe for several weeks now.

This comes with the next ‘Golden Ball’ winner now just a fortnight from being unveiled.

As things stand, it is Vinícius Jr. who leads the way when it comes to the bookmakers’ favourites, ahead of Blancos teammate Jude Bellingham, and Manchester City midfielder Rodri.

And one individual of the opinion that, if Viní ultimately goes on to be named world football’s best, it will have been fully deserved, comes in the form of the aforementioned Neymar.

Speaking during an appearance in front of the media on Monday, Brazilian icon Neymar was drawn on his compatriot’s Ballon d’Or candidacy.

And the Al-Hilal star did not hesitate in responding:

“I love Vinícius. We have a beautiful relationship. He’s a great friend that football has made me know. He had a wonderful season, I surely support him to win the Ballon D’Or. I think there’s no one better than him. Viní deserves it, he’s a fighter, he suffered a lot throughout his life. He surpassed all the criticism and now he’s an idol, a great hero for us.”
