Barcelona stars past and present have this week moved to send messages of well-wishes to departing Blaugrana man Sergi Roberto.
Midfielder Roberto, for his part, bid an emotional goodbye to his life-long club on Tuesday afternoon.
After it was decided that the Spanish international would not be offered a new contract, a special event was organised for a player who just last season acted as Barcelona’s captain.
The club’s current crop of stars showed their support by attending, with the likes of Gavi, Pedri and Ferran Torres present amongst a packed crowd.
Messages of fond farewell have since flooded in across social media, too, with fans, pundits and players alike keen to afford Roberto a send-off fitting of a player of such exemplary professionalism.
And, as alluded to above, adding their respective names to the list of goodbyes late on Tuesday were Barca stars past and present alike.
From the former category, Neymar took to his official Instagram account, to write:
‘Good luck in your new stage my friend @sergiroberto’
And as much was soon followed by Neymar’s fellow countryman and current Blaugrana attacker Vitor Roque following suit,
In an Instagram post of his own, Roque unveiled a photo of Hansi Flick’s squad with Sergi Roberto front and centre, alongside the caption:
‘Thank you for everything @sergiroberto’
