Former Barcelona star Neymar Jr. has on Friday hit out at Manchester City star and Ballon d’Or winner Rodri, in response to recent comments laid out regarding Real Madrid wide-man Vinícius Jr.
Rodri, for his part, was drawn on Real standout Vinícius once more this week.
During an interview with El Larguero, the name of the Brazilian was put to the Spanish international, whom he pipped to the Ballon d’Or amid controversial scenes late last month.
Specifically, Rodri was asked about Vinícius’ oft-discussed attitude on the pitch.
And the 28-year-old went on to reveal his take that:
“I think he’s a smart guy and he’ll realize over time that the more he pays attention to the field, the better he’ll be.
“Athletes are not only what they represent on the field, but also off it.”
Safe to say, however, that such comments, or perhaps rather their timing, have not gone down at all well with one of Vinícius’ fellow countrymen.
Taking to the comments section of a post highlighting as much on Instagram on Friday, Neymar, a close friend of Real Madrid’s star attacker, wrote:
‘He became a talker now,’ accompanied by a series of emojis:
