New details emerge of Ronald Araújo’s Barcelona release clause

It’s been almost a month since Uruguayan centre-back Ronald Araújo signed his new Barcelona contract, and plenty of talk has been had around his new release clause at the club.

When the renewal was announced, reports indicated that his €1 Billion release clause had now been adjusted to a more modest €65 million.

And while this is still the case, Cadena SER has now unveiled another key detail in Araújo’s release clause which could come into play should he decide to leave Barcelona.

This refers to an aspect of his release clause which only sees the €65 million figure apply to the first ten days of the transfer window.

This would mean that should any club want to purchase the 25-year-old in the latter stages of the transfer window, they might have to fork out a bit more, depending on what Barcelona are willing to accept.

There is also the fact that Araújo’s release clause could be set to rise to €85 million in the future.
