Mono Burgos will leave his role as Atlético Madrid assistant coach this summer, according to Marca.

The club’s former goalkeeper is seeking his own managerial project, after spending eight and a half years as Diego Simeone’s number two.

In February 2019, Simeone extended his contract with Atleti, however the club were unable to come to an agreement with Burgos. Nelson Vivas, who was Simeone’s assistant from 2006 to 2011 is expected to take over from the Argentine.
