Speaking in an interview with AS, Mikel Merino admitted that he believes his Real Sociedad teammate Martin Ødegaard is ready to be a regular starter for Real Madrid.
“Due to his individual ability, he is ready for Real Madrid but I hope he stays with Real Sociedad. He’s a brilliant footballer, the Madrid type. With Real Sociedad, he’s playing in a system that works for him and it’s really paying off. Whether he stays with us or returns to Madrid remains to be seen. He needs to decide for himself.”
Ødegaard is currently in the first year of a two-year loan deal from Los Blancos and has been in exceptional form. In 28 appearances, the Norwegian has scored seven goals and provided eight assists.
