Michu: “I had a chat with Haaland and I don’t think he’s going to stay at Dortmund.”

Former Spanish forward Michu is Erling Haaland’s self-confessed idol. The Norwegian striker looked up to the Swansea City legend as a kid.

Michu, now sporting director of Segunda outfit Burgos, spoke to Què T’hi Jugues of Cadena SER about Haaland’s future.

“I was with Haaland, I had a chat with him and I don’t think he’s going to stay at Dortmund. Haaland is looking for a very strong team that can compete in the Champions League. He is looking for a competitive team,” Michu said.

The sporting director went on to explain that the Dortmund striker showed him signs that his time at the Bundesliga side is coming to an end and that he wants to fight for titles from next season onwards.

“He gave me the feeling that he is looking for a sporting project for many years and he told me that he likes Spain. He thinks more about the overall project than the money involved. If Mbappé goes to Madrid, I think Barça would be a very good option. In this day and age, Haaland is cheap,” he added.
