French outlet L’Équipe have on Tuesday revealed their disappointment with both Real Madrid as an institution, and Blancos frontman Kylian Mbappé.
This comes owing to developments surrounding last night’s Ballon d’Or ceremony.
Real Madrid, of course, took their place front and centre in the headlines across all of world football late on Monday.
This came after the Spanish champions responded to news of Vinícius Jr. missing out on the Ballon d’Or to Rodri, by boycotting the Paris gala.
Such behaviour gave rise to widespread criticism across the continent, with such condemnation, as alluded to above, having today been added to in no uncertain terms by L’Équipe.
As cited by Mundo Deportivo, the French outlet first hit out at Real Madrid:
“Madrid lacked class and trampled on this value of sport which consists of respecting its winners.”
And as much was followed in turn by a fresh jibe at France international Kylian Mbappé, whose 6th-placed finish in the Ballon d’Or voting was evidently considered a disappointment in his home country:
“At his age, Messi already had four (Ballons d’Or).”
