Barcelona forward Memphis Depay prefers to stay in Spain and join Atlético Madrid, with whom he already has an agreement in principle, as reported by journalist Matteo Moretto of Relevo.
Atlético want to take Depay from rivals Barça but don’t want to include winger Yannick Carrasco in the deal.
Depay’s lawyer denied rumours on Monday of a move to Inter in Serie A and the 28-year-old Dutch forward could end up staying in La Liga this month.
Sebastien Ledure told Fabrizio Romano about the speculation surrounding the player’s future but he has admitted that there is nothing between the sides.
“There are no negotiations ongoing for Memphis to join Inter. I can deny all these links — it’s not a possibility we are discussing,” he told Romano.
According to Romano, Depay is keen on joining Atlético and personal terms won’t be a problem.
It is now up to Barcelona and Atlético to come to an agreement.
