‘Maybe one day’ – Barcelona star clarifies future amid exit links

A headline member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Thursday spoken out over his future.

The player in question? İlkay Gündoğan.

The name of midfielder Gündoğan has of course taken its place back centre stage in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital across the day to date.

This comes after the 33-year-old set tongues wagging, by way of his choice of holiday destination.

Afforded a couple of days of rest by manager Hansi Flick ahead of the La Liga campaign being kickstarted next week, Gündoğan opted to make the trip to Istnabul, Turkey.

As much gave rise to widespread chatter, amid long-standing links between the former Manchester City man, and the heavyweights of the Süper Lig.

Upon his arrival in Turkey this evening, it therefore came as little surprise when Gündoğan was quickly sought out for comment by the awaiting media presence.

The German international, though, made use of the opportunity to, for the time being at least, confirm his commitment to the Barcelona cause:

“I might be transferred to the Süper Lig one day, but not this summer.”
