Matheus Cunha eyes Premier League move

Matheus Cunha could move to the Premier League as soon as the January transfer window, report Marca.

It was communicated yesterday that Atlético Madrid are keen to offload the 23-year-old striker as soon as possible. Despite having a promising first season at the Estadio Metropolitano, he has failed to score a single goal in the 17 games he has played in so far this season in all competitions. His poor form meant that he was not picked to be part of the Brazilian World Cup squad heading to Qatar.

Cunha has fallen down the pecking order in the forwards department at Atlético Madrid, being fifth choice behind Antoine Griezmann, Álvaro Morata, João Félix and Ángel Correa.

Nonetheless, it is believed that the Brazilian striker, who was linked with a move to Manchester United this past summer, could be heading to the Premier League as his representatives are well-networked in England.

The player’s agency will be using the international break to find a suitable destination for their client, which may well be a team in the English top flight.
