Matheus Cunha close to Atlético Madrid exit

Matheus Cunha is close to leaving Atlético Madrid, report Marca.

Last week it was communicated that a range of Premier League clubs are interested in signing the 23-year-old in January, including Aston Villa, Everton and Leeds United.

However, it appears as though Wolves are in pole position to secure the services of the Brazilian forward, with the two clubs in talks over a potential transfer in January.

Atlético Madrid are trying to overcome their financial deficit that was caused by their elimination from all European competitions and they have chosen Cunha as one of the players that they would like to sell in order to balance the books.

Cunha arrived to the Estadio Metropolitano in the summer of 2021. Despite a promising first season at the club, in the last couple of months he has failed to perform to the standards demanded by Diego Simeone.

Earlier this week it was reported that Wolves are also interested in signing Atlético Madrid defender Felipe.
