Martín Zubimendi responds to Man City transfer rumours

Martín Zubimendi is a midfielder who could have easily been lacing his boots up for Liverpool right about now. After a long transfer saga during the summer, the 25-year-old eventually decided to remain at Real Sociedad.

Zubimendi is currently on duty with the Spanish squad and was asked at a press conference about recent rumours linking him with a move to English giants Manchester City.

As per COPE, the midfielder said ‘Until now I have thought that the best thing for me was to be at the club,’ referring to Real Sociedad.

‘I still have a lot to give at Real Sociedad’ Zubimendi clarified, cementing his place at the Basque club, at least for the time being.

The midfielder has gotten off to a good start at Real Sociedad, making nine appearances and getting a goal for his efforts, but that won’t stop the rumour mill from rumbling on.

Zubimendi now has a chance to shine on the international stage for Spain, where good performances will do little to quell the interest many of the world’s top clubs have in him.
