Marcos Llorente set to commit future to Atlético Madrid with new deal

After the recent contract renewal of head coach Diego Simeone and the announcement of new signing Rodrigo de Paul, one of the priorities still left on Atlético Madrid’s summer to-do list is the renewal of Marcos Llorente.

Llorente was a key part of Atleti’s league title success last season. The 26-year-old has been linked with moves to Manchester United and PSG. This is to be expected considering he was the midfielder with most goals in LaLiga in 2020/21. He scored 12 goals and provided 11 assists in the 37 games he played.

The Spaniard has preferred not to listen to these offers and his intention is to stay at Atlético Madrid, a club he is very grateful to for backing him, and where he is happy under the orders of Simeone.

His contract renewal, according to Mundo Deportivo, is very close to being announced. The new deal would include a contract extension with a salary increase and an increase in his buyout clause.

According to Italian journalist Gianluigi Dragone, his uncle and agent, Julio Llorente, was in the offices of the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday, dealing directly with club CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín. This information even claims that an agreement has already been reached.
