Marcos Alonso on Inter Milan: “I don’t think we are favorites.”

Barcelona are set to play Inter Milan this evening in the third round of the Champions League group stage, with kick-off scheduled at 9pm local time.

In his pre-match interview that appeared on Marca, Marcos Alonso acknowledged the challenge that Inter Milan will pose:

“We know it’s an important game. Inter are very well-worked tactically, physically and they have quality up front. We know how difficult it is, but we are in good form and we are aware of the importance of the three points tomorrow. I don’t think we are favorites, Inter is a great rival and it will be a difficult match.”

The Spaniard also believes it is too early to talk about the possibility of winning the Champions League:

“It’s a little early. I think we’re in a good position for tomorrow’s game. It’s early to talk about whether we are candidates.”

Alonso also revealed he had no desire to move to Italy despite playing three years for Fiorentina:

“I spent three years in Florence, but when the option of Barça came up, I didn’t listen to other offers.”
