Marcos Alonso: “Being here was my dream since I was a kid.”

Marcos Alonso Mendoza was presented today as a Barcelona player at the Campo Tito Vilanova, as reported by Marca.

During the ceremony, his father Marcos Alonso Peña was also present, who played for the Blaugrana between 1982 and 1987. The 31-year-old expressed hid excitement regarding the opportunity to play for the club where his father left his mark:

“I am very happy about having the opportunity to be a part of this great team. It is what I’ve always wanted since I was a kid when my father used to bring me to the Nou Camp. I’m very happy to come to the team where my father triumphed. I’m looking forward to it and I’m excited.”

However, he also revealed that he is ready to forge his own legacy and fight for his place:

“Now I have to prepare my own pathway. A new team, I’m starting from scratch and I have to work hard to earn a place in the side.”

Alonso told those present that his first impressions of Barça are very positive:

“The human quality of the dressing room has not surprised me, nor did the footballing quality. This year I hope to experience many happy moments. You can see that the club has formed a great team.”
