Marcelo on Gareth Bale getting booed: “It’s sad”

Speaking to Movistar after Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Getafe on Saturday, Marcelo was asked about his team-mate Gareth Bale getting booed by the home fans at the Santiago Bernabéu.

“It’s difficult… it has happened to many people, but we are all important.

We are at the end of the season, we have a lot at stake, we have to help each other, our team-mates, and also the fans. We are with him [Bale]. It’s sad but we have to go out, sweat for the shirt and play,” the Brazilian said.

Bale came on in the second half for his first appearance at the Bernabéu since February 2020.

The Welshman is set to leave the club when his contract expires this summer.
