Marcelo bids farewell to Real Madrid after 16 seasons

Marcelo said goodbye to players, staff and fans of Real Madrid on Monday.

“I leave here with my head held high. My family is very proud of me. I’m lucky, everything I’ve had in my life has been with work, but I’ve been lucky with the people I’ve had by my side. Thank you all very much. It’s not a goodbye, I don’t feel that I’m leaving Madrid. If you don’t give me a ticket, you’ll have a problem!”

“When I said that the future of Madrid is very safe, I said that Madrid is promising, as it has always been. I include my son in that, who is in the cantera. I arrived as a boy and I’m leaving as a man”, he said in quotes transcribed by AS.

“I want to thank the club, my team-mates who I’ve been lucky enough to play with over the years, the coaches, the kit men who are like family, the people who work in the residence, the security people, the people who work behind the scenes.

“We only dedicate ourselves to playing football, but I like to reinforce that for us to be able to play, there are people behind us and I learned that at Real Madrid. I want to thank Madrid for all of this. I have woken up every day of my life with the joy of being at the best club in the world. My children have seen that I have been able to play for the best club in the world,” he added.

The club captain leaves the Santiago Bernabéu after 16 seasons. He won a record 25 titles for the club.
